SRS light

SRS light

I have a 1992 Volvo 240 with 140,000 miles. Just a little while ago the SRS light came on. I know the light stands for Safty Restraint System, but why did it come on? I havn't been involved in any accident or anything. And how can I turn this thing off, it annoys the hell out of me seeing lights light up there that don't belong light.

the light is on because of 2 reasions...1st, the sensor for the air bags are shorting or arnt working for some reasion, the 2nd is the system is not working correctly. I would take it to get looked at, it may be a simple somthing, or it could mean that if you were in an accident the system would fail to work which would not be a good thing.
