The 240 is a great car, except for the times when your girlfriend drives it at nearly full speed, for a few hours, in "2" instead of "Drive" on the auto gearbox! ...so now I need a new engine.
Anyway, here's my question: can I use a B230F engine coming from a 940 (and having its distribution rotor at the rear of the engine) instead of my original B230F, with the standard distribution rotor in front ? It's obvious that I'll have to take out the 940 rotor (it would press hard against the firewall in a 240), but can I use my old one instead ? The engine block has a cover -which could be taken out- over the place where the distributor would come. But will I find the same type of crankshaft in the 940 B230F as in my old 240 ? I never opened my engine, but I'm sure my crankshaft has some kind of gear that moves the distributor axle. I don't know if I'll find the same crankshaft in the 940 engine, so I'm not sure if I can do the engine switch.
Could anyone please advise me on this ?
I'll try to attach an explanatory picture - not sure this will work.
Many thanks in advance,
Neil
