Oil leak - 89 740GLE

I have a light oil leak under the exhaust manifold on the head gasket. I've heard that it isn't worth changing the head gasket, as this is a recurring problem with the 16V engine. True? Could I try an additive or tighten the gasket bolts? Do such oil leaks usually get worse in time?

i have an 89' 760 turbo wagon and am having the same problem. have you checked the valve gasket or the oil pan for leaks? i have also heard that rear seal leaks are common. post any info...
