My 1994 940 has absolutely no power until the engine has reached normal operating teperature.it idles fine but will not accelerate until warmed up.The engine light is on and the car runs beautifully after warming.Any ideas?

I have a guess that the electronic thinks that the engine is warm because the sensor placed in the back of the enginblock is giving false (warm) values. If the electronic thinks that the motor is warm, the mix is to lean for a cold engine and the engine will be weak. Loosen the temp. sensor and put it into water and heat it up. Check the resistance. I do not know the exact values, but it should changing from several kOhm to less than 1kOhm when the temperature is increased to the boiling point. Most important is that resistance is changing linear to increased temperature.
