just wanted to know if I could use the mity vac oil change extractor to suck the tranny fluid out of my s70 instead of doing the messy hose in bucket and cranking method. thanks....

Hi, I did an ATF flush using the hose and crank method and it was not messy at all - even easier and faster to do than an oil change. The trick is to use the upper hose leading back to the intercooler rather than the lower hose. Check out the IPD website and search for the ATF flush kit - it comes with detailed instructions downloadable from the website. You don't have to buy the kit, just buy 4-5 ft. of clear hose (1/2" inside diameter). Regarding the metal clips. if you can pry them apart without breaking them you can reuse them by bending them back and then use a zip tie around it for additional security.
THe ATF is very hot. I suggest doing the flush after starting a cold engine and driving around for a few minutes to get it warmed up but not hot.

With the money you'd save from doing the flush yourself, use Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF. It cost more per quart but should last longer and handle tranny heat better than regular ATF. Some people even reported smoother shifts - mine improved subtlely. I think 1 quart is about U$6 at Walmart. Suggest you buy 12 bottles first and then return the unused ones. I used up only 10 bottles. Some people reported using only 8 while others used up 12. I don't know what accounts for the difference but I suspect it has to do with how dirty the ATF is.
