New volvo wierd ignition problem

Post by laleebee »

Hi all,
I just bought a '94 940 turbo wagon (which I guess is not exactly new, but it is new to me). I love it!! Today is the first day that I have had it and a strange ignition problem has developed. When I stick the key into the ignition, I hear a pinging noise that doesn't go away until I turn off the car and take the key out!! It is driving me a little nuts! Has anyone out there experienced this and know how to fix it?

Thanks!!

BTW, it is not the engine. It is the noise that alerts you that the key is still in the ignition when the driver's side door is open.

probably a stuck door-sensor switch. I would cut the wire for the switch and see if it goes away, if so, replace the switch.
