my 87 240 starts the engine rotates once or twice and dies

ok i replaced the fuel pump and it still is doing the same thing, if i pump the gas pedal JUST RIGHT the engine will stay alive otherwise it will idle for a few seconds and die, i replaced the fuel filter about a month ago i wonder if it is possible that it is clogged again? its like something is telling the engine to die, and this my volvo friends makes me want to cry, i am considering junking it now and i really dont want to. if any1 can help me please o please do so. thanx

Wow... this sounds like exactly what my 86 wagon does... I haven't replaced fuel pump yet, but now its sitting in the yard. Any tips?

Possibly a bad MAF/MAP Meter.

Unplug airmass meter if it starts and runs, and then when you step on the gas shuts off that is you problem

in my experience, with the MAF disconnected, the car will not run for more than 3 seconds... But it will throw a code.
