I have 93 240 sedan with 95k on it. I want to install intermittent wipers, but do not want to cause any problems with the electrical system.
Has any one ever done this? Did it cause any problems? Do you know of a kit that I could buy?
Thnx,
Kreg

Thanx for the response. I do have intermittant wipers, BUT I can not control the speed of the interval - I am stuck with one speed. I should have made this clear - sorry.
Any ideas?
Thnx,

I have a 1986 740 GLE. The wipers have an intermittant position, but it, too, has only one speed and not adjustable. I would imagine that this changed sometime between then and now, but I am not that familiar with Volvo's beyond my 740. I think we are stuck with one speed unless some type of retrofit kit was developed. With that, I shall surrender the floor to others with more knowledge.
I suggest that you take the glove compartment away and behind you will find the windscreen wiper motor and its connections. Hopefully you will find the following wires, green = low speed, brown = high speed , yellow = + for returndrive to parking position. The white/black will be grounded inside the motor when in parking position.
If you buy a stepless relay of any kind, they instruction will ask you to find 12 V feeding ( = yellow), It will ask you to find the ground in parking position (= White / black) and the will ask for low speed ( green). The relay will also need the ground. Good luck!

Thanx for the detailed response.
If I have the wire setup that you mentioned, then do I only need to buy the switch (the one that mounts on the steering column) and inistall it (e.g., I can use the same wiper motor)?
Thanx again - I have posted in many web-sites for an answer to this question and I never get a reponse that sounds right.
Thanks from Washington DC.
