Hello,
Just replaced the plugs on my 2001 V70XC turbo. It has 125K miles currently and it was running very smooth before the new plugs were installed.
After the installation I noticed a little hesitation in acceleration and at idle a sputer every so often.
The only thing different with this tune up was I didn't use the OEM plugs, I used Bosch Platimum 2, in addition I didn't have a torque wrench that went that low so I tightened the plugs until they seated and gave them an extra half turn. Nothing else was done other than the plugs.
Any suggetions as to what would be causing the hesitation in accelleration and slight miss and is it absolutly necessary to torque the plugs and if not torqued can they be reused again.
Thanks for the advice in advance

I do a quarter to a half turn after seating, so we're doing the same. Did you inspect the gapping? Wires on ok?
Help keep MVS on the web -> click sponsors' links here on MVS when you buy from them.
Also -> Amazon link. Click that when you go to buy something on Amazon and MVS gets a cut!

Matthew1,
Thanks for your reply.
Regards to checking gap, no I didn't since they were pre gapped by the manufaturer. Also they had two ground terminals and they don't make the normal L shape as the OEM plugs do.
As far as the wires they are also a little different than the typical wires. There are several and they terminate into the housing that screws into the Plug access hole.
Thanks

I didn't inspect the gap because they were gapped by the manufacturer. Sounds like you don't trust the manufacturer maybe yur right. As far as the wires I didn't look at them real close. The only thing I noticed was that they are different than what I am use to seeing, (several wires that terminate into a housing that is secured to the top of the head.matthew1 wrote:I do a quarter to a half turn after seating, so we're doing the same. I did make sure that the plug wire plug did go onto the spark plug though.
one more thing, the plugs I used as replacements had two ground terminals and they didn't have the usual L shape like the traditional plugs that your use to seeeing. I assume thta to gap this type you just gap the area that is closest to the electrode.
Thanks for the help.

Read somewhere that the platinums come pre-gapped, no need to gap them. Better check on this though.....

Just did this myself. I replaced the old OEM plugs with auto-lite platinums. They were NOT pre-gapped for my car and I did the same technique for tightening you did. Car runs much smoother now.
Your car has coil-packs which I suppose can be described as independent distributors. I think thats what you're describing as "wires". The screw that holds them to the head is also the ground screw, so make sure its secure.
Hope this helps.
