Scratched Bumper--Touch Up Ideas?

Somehow, some way, my front bumper got scratched. It looks like someone took a black sharpie marker and made a line or it looks like a scuff mark. What would be the best thing to touch this up, as it looks hideous?

If it is a scuff and not through the paint, try polishing compound (not rubbing compound which is to abrasive). It is available at auto parts stores.

If it is a deep scratch then do your best with OEM touch-up paint.

I had a similar problem...actually bought the car this way. I took some sand paper and rubbed the clear coat off of the areas needing painting, then got the correct code "spray paint" that comes with the clear coat spray as well from the dealer. Next I taped up the areas above the dam (and part of the dam) that didn't need painting with newspaper. I sprayed the color on in accordance with directions and then used the clear coat spray after the color dried...only about 10-15 minutes. It looks like new now and I'm very pleased with the results!
