'98 XC-V70 Driveshaft

Anyone else had their driveshaft go on their '98 XC V70? Mileage is 112,000. Only makes noise on left front turns...replaced the LF half shaft, but that didn't do it. Dealership says the entire driveshaft needs to be replaced. Don't understand why noise is only happening on left turns. Cost to replace exceeds $ 1,000. Any ideas ???
