850 Leather seats worn, repair, replace....... what?

Post by Freeflyfreak »

Hi I have a 94 volvo 850 wagon with the beige interior.
The leather on the front seats is getting very worn.

Is it possible to replace the leather, are they covers?
If so what is a good source, the cheaper the better.

If not replacable can they be repaired, what is the best way?

Thanks.

This site is great, I have already done most common repairs:

Repaired odometer
Fixed tailgate rattle
Replaced tailgate struts
Repaired headliner
Replaced broken upper engine mount
Replaced lower right engine mount
Relaced sway bar links both sides
Replaced spring seats both sides
Replaced Rear light covers top and bottom due to severe fading/crazing/cracking.
Installed third seat
Replaced plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and air filter
Cleaned flame trap

There are many of these job I wouldnt have tackled without this and the other great volvo sites to point me in the right direction.
My volvo should last a good long while now.

The best way to take care of your leather seats is to use some leather filler that you can get from Leatherique. I've heard good things about them.

The easiest fix would be to find a set of good seats in a local wrecking yard and just switch them out.

Estimates to have the covers remade at an upholstery shop were running about $1000 with the exact color match not guaranteed.

I got some nice tan leather front covers for my wagon off ebay for $280 plus $30 shipping. The seller was strandbergauto, a used parts dealer out of Centuria, WI. They list with good pictures and accurate description, and at that time were the only ones removing the covers. Shipping on whole seats is cost prohibitive.

It was some work changing them out, but they look great and it was well worth it. 8)
