Preparation
Remove

  

  • the screw for the torque rod mounting at the bracket on the engine.
  • the screws at the cross rod mounting to the suspension turret.
  • the cross stay.
  • the intake manifold between the electronic throttle module (ETM) and the air cleaner (ACL) cover from the air cleaner.
  • the air cleaner (ACL) cover. Place it to one side.
  • the camshaft position (CMP) sensor housing and the trigger wheel.
  • the cover in the rear edge of the camshaft.

Replacing the rear camshaft seal

  

Pull off the seal with extractor 999 5919.
Lubricate and install a new seal. Use drift 999 5450.

Note: The seal is normally positioned at the same level as the internal beveled edge. If the shaft journal is showing signs of wear, the seal can be pressed in a further 2 mm by turning the drift socket.

Finishing
Install
  • the trigger wheel. Tighten to 17 Nm (12 ft. lbs.) .
  • the camshaft position (CMP) sensor housing.
  • a new cover at the rear edge of the camshaft.
  • the air cleaner (ACL) cover.
  • the intake manifold between the electronic throttle module (ETM) and the air cleaner (ACL) cover.
  • the cross stay. Use new screws. Tighten to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.) .
  • the screw for the torque rod mounting at the bracket on the engine. Tighten to 80 Nm (59 ft. lbs.) .

Final check
Test drive the engine.
