Re: Sc-900 vs sc-901
How similar is the 900 to the sc-901? SC-900 has two sound modes, SC-901 has three. 1. Mono 2. Stereo (all speakers play). 3. Dolby 3 channel. My 900 has three modes :?: Factory HU in my 98 V70 (built in late 97) with the center speaker - Nothing displayed on the screen so I would guess Mono - "3ch...

I have a set of TeamHeko on mine, pretty happy with those. It's a European brand so not sure if you can get those in NA I paid around 65$ for the set iirc. https://i57.servimg.com/u/f57/16/41/73/43/img_2217.jpg I also love the background music of their How to video  https://www.youtube.com/...

Re: 2020 parts cost inreview, exec summary 5 cents per mile
I spent 3000$ in parts for the V70 this year and drove about 10k miles (drove less than last year due to multiple lockdowns), that's not a good score
Some of these were upgrades tho, or replacing parts that should last for a few years (clutch, timing belt...)

I am totally comfortable letting the hydraulic tensioners go a couple intervals i.e. 150k miles. If I don't know the history and the mileage is up there, I give it a new one and reset the counter. For brand, Aisin (or Volvo) only on the hydraulic tensioner. The Aisin is quite cheap (half the blue b...

I've got a few orders coming soon, but I'm still wondering wether I should replace the hydraulic timing belt tensionner or not ?
The timing belt was replaced about 3 years ago afaik, but I dont know if the tensionner was.
And if buy a new one, what brand should I go for ?

My next car will most likely be a 4th gen Legacy with the 3.0 :D I've always found the P80s to not be that big: my 940 sedan is longer than my V70. Re: What did you do to your Volvo today? (now Sticky)
I replaced mine yesterday with a cheapo one from aliexpress. Doesn't feel as good as a brand new OEM would, but still better than the half broken original https://i57.servimg.com/u/f57/16/41/73/43/img_2109.jpg Now I'm getting ready for next week jobs: new discs, 302mm upgrade, braided lines and fix ...

Re: what octane gas is everyone using?
Mine is currently running on a mix of E85 and RON 95-E10. Simple reason being that E85 is at least half the price of 95, sometimes a third.
LTFT is at 20% which sounds legit and I get a 20% worse mpg, but still make it cheaper to keep the brick on the road

There must be something between cats and Volvo headrests
Replaced my sparkplugs today, they were NGK Bkr6eix (iridium plugs) but the gap was over .031
I got some cheap Bosch copper FR 7 D+ gapped at .028, already feels smoother

Only replace sister caliper if you are buying new genuine Volvo calipers. Aftermarket rebuilds are all junk. Even rebuild calipers from known brands (such as Bosch or TRW) ? They are still slightly cheaper than Ate/Genuine Volvo. I might just changed the seized one then. Brake fluid has been replac...

I have a seized caliper, planning to replace it soon.
Should I change the other rear caliper as well ? They are a bit rusted and have 195k miles on them. I'll get all 4 new discs and new lines (braided maybe)

The V70 comes with both 15 and 16 inch wheel options - I have a T5 with 16 inch wheels and 280mm brake rotors Yeah, I've never understood why parts sites designate "w/ 15" wheel" or "w/ 16" wheel". They should be the same. The only factory options for front brakes on these cars are 280mm or 302mm. ...
