Re: VIDA, DiCE for 2022 XC60?
There's a Matthews Volvo discussion board specific to VIDA/DiCE: https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=40 Volvo put an end to the bootleg VIDA versions out there starting with a new online-only VIDA supporting 2015.5+ models. Anything newer, you have to rent VIDA (software) on a s...

Re: I've got a benign cyst in my brain...
Hadn't heard of that one before. Sounds like they'll put a stent (tube) in there so the cerebro-spinal-fluid flow is not blocked by the cyst. That will keep the CSF pressure properly regulated. I think this is going to be a successful repair job. We're all thankful neurosurgery has come a long ways.

Re: A Cautionary Message From Vaccine Advocates
Non-quantitative discussions of Covid vaccination risks is a RED FLAG. Anti-vax infowarriors deftly avoid any discussion of statistical probabilities, so that they can exploit a known human cognitive frailty -- preference for dramatic stories, which can be cherry-picked. It's the exact same "fa...

Re: Oil Anti Drain Valve for the P3 -- 3.0T and 3.2
DIPSTICK TEST (Engine running vs. 3-min. off) For these Ford-Volvo engines with the oil filter accessed from up top, you can tell whether the oil filter housing's anti-drain-back valve is working by comparing the dipstick level 3 minutes apart: Park on a level surface with engine running. Observe th...

Re: Oil Anti Drain Valve for the P3 -- 3.0T and 3.2
DIPSTICK TEST OF OIL ANTI-DRAIN-BACK VALVE for the P3 - 3.0T and 3.2 How can you tell if your oil filter housing is holding onto its oil volume when the engine is stopped? If the anti-drain valve has failed, you'll be able to detect this condition using the dipstick. Test with car on a level surface...

Re: No cabin heat - 2008 XC70
With the hood open and engine warmed up, locate the 2 water hoses that go through the firewall to supply hot coolant to the cabin heater. If water is flowing, the hoses should be hot. If they are only luke warm, that implies that a flow valve is stuck shut. If they are hot, then that implies that th...

Re: Tire inflation light staying on.......
The first thing to determine which type of TPMS your Volvo has. Look at one of the other 3 wheels, specifically the inflation valve stem: Direct TPMS: The valve stem is metallic and fatter than a rubber stem. At the inside end of the stem is a battery-powered air pressure sensor with short-range rad...

Re: Coolant Temperature Rises Rapidly After Flush, But No Overheat
I found the write up cited above hard to stomach. I have the B2306 "T6" engine, and cannot see any "upper hose" going to the engine block except the one containing the thermostat. As far as the access on the driver's side of the radiator, yes, he's talking about the hose that ent...

Re: Coolant Temperature Rises Rapidly After Flush, But No Overheat
MVS posted a long article on the "gotchas" involved in replacing the coolant on modern Volvo engines. If the engine is operated while the block is emptied of coolant, block heat will build very quickly (not good for alum. block), and the thermostat won't allow water to rush into the engine...

If anyone finds a broken rubber stopper loose in their oil filter housing, please save it...don't pitch it!
If someone can send all the pieces retrieved to me, I have an idea how I could start making replacement plugs.
DM me if you can supply one.
