Hi Everyone, So a few days ago the car seemed to stumble on startup to the point where i though it was misfiring (no codes stored). Re: S70 Transmission will not engage

Almost sounds like a bad connection or something. Did you check the PNP switch? I had a similar issue where the car would shift fine in every gear but would be stuck in limp home mode. I replaced the TCM and the car works perfectly. Is the correct trans fluid in the vehicle? My mechanic said once th...

Do you have the 2.3T? If so then the egg crate one (number you posted) is the period and type correct one for your car i believe. Original C70 was likely the waterfall grille or shiny one. They are fairly cheap as far as i know. If you want to be true to 2000 then you can grab one with a blue logo. Alternatively, if your logo is in good condition, then you can cut off the tabs behind it and move it over to an older 98 grille. ...

Re: Question on testing alternator

Forgive me if this is an ignorant comment but shouldnt the voltage regulator brushes be the same length? If they contact on the shaft then that would allow it to collect the difference off the coils to ground and then filter it through a bridge rectifier and vreg to get your output car voltage. If o...

Re: 99 s70 died on highway : multiple codes Topic is solved

Hi, we had the same issue the other day abs, tracs, and brake lights. It was fixed by recharging the car battery. It seems like you are on the right track with the charging circuit. Best of luck.

Re: P80 heavy braking smell question

If a caliper is seized, you should definitely feel it - even if the car isn’t pulling to one side, a caliper clamping to the point where the pads are wearing, heating and applying force isn’t going to be nice (or silent, in most cases). I’ve definitely smelled brakes after a hard stop without a cal...

Re: Need help with strange issue

The top mount on our 98 v70 failed a while ago, and the car would shake hard when the car was not in motion. It sounds like yours is either completely gone, or some of the lowers are also destroyed. From the maintenance history you gave, i doubt that the tranny is gone as you would start to lose gea...

Re: S70 upper engine mount - different sizes?

I replaced mine 2 weeks back, and the discrepancy is likely due to the fact that the bushing needs to squeeze into the upper motor mount. After a while, the bushing may shrink to the size of the motor mount which could be the reason why you have a 3mm discrepancy. (I know this for a fact as i took a...

Re: 99 s70 2.3T New Project Car

I’ll stick my neck out on this one a bit, I don’t think we have had any burned out power seat motors on MVS. They are really high quality kit. Try this on the seat. Put your lights on, then push the inop seat button while watching the lights, looking to see if they are drawing current. If they are,...

Re: 99 s70 2.3T New Project Car

Update:
-All chair buttons passed conductivity tests. Im fairly sure its a dead motor. Will need to do a proper disassembly to test the motor.
-Calipers still need to be replaced along with rotors.
-recorded some odd noises while turning (sounds like a pump or motor) and am researching it

Re: 99 s70 2.3T New Project Car

Also the passengers chairs motor sounds seized or disconnected, has anyone disassembled the chair or tried to rewire it. Which one? 1. You can hear/feel the motor trying but the seat does not move. 2. You can hear the motor running but the seat does not move. 3. Motor does nothing. When we flick th...

99 s70 2.3T New Project Car

Hi everyone, We recently purchased an s70 2.3T as a parts car, but it turned out to be a gem. Car runs, AC works, engine shows no sign of rust or dirt (someone really loved this car). Its a 99 model, and the front callipers or pins are seized (will be working on it over the weekend to confirm which ...
