Last winter in Chicago, it was mild, I didn't put on many miles, and I did not feel a need for winter tires.

I went to Traverse City, MI for Thanksgiving, and the sleet has opened my eyes to the need for winter tires.

I have the money to do this; but, I really do not want to invest in rims, too ...

I am hoping that this only applies if I disconnect the wiring harness? Or, is there some kind of anti-theft interlock that disables the stereo when it's removed from the dash ...

I have an aftermarket stereo (needed in-dash CD w/changer support, XM, preouts, and all the goodies) so removing my stereo is a little bit more involed. However, removing the stock Volvo unit is extremely easy.
