Rear Spring Replacement - Tips

Our P3 XC70 have over half dozen OEM spring choices, the only way to get the right springs for our Volvo is to supply the vehicle VIN so the dealer/shop can provide the correct springs for the car (which I never understood why). Now, what happens if the springs supplied by the dealer/shop is not cor...

Re: Refreshing Volvo XC70 (P3) Front Suspension -Tips

Hi, I was browsing through this forum and came across your question and wished I got notified of your question earlier since I don't monitor this site....I hope you got it sorted out. About your question, I believe all the XC70/XC60 P3 ball joint shaft are the same, they are straight with a small no...

Re: Volvo markings on suspension pats XC70

If you want to be absolutely sure, phone any Volvo dealer and provide them your vehicle VIN, and they will tell you which part is for your car. I still don't understand why Volvo have so many spring choices for a relatively small number of cars made. Also, I suggest that you compare (measure the hei...

Re: Refreshing Volvo XC70 (P3) Front Suspension -Tips

I had similar concerns before I started my work, because of the tight space looked intimidating. But it worked out fine. I used a wrench to secure the nut from spinning on the top side and a socket with crowbar attached on the bottom side to remove and tighten the two rear bolts/nuts. You don't need...

Re: Fuel consumption in my 2010 xc70

What is the mileage of your XC70?
Assume the car's tune-up is kept up to date: spark plugs, air filters, motor oil, etc I also found my XC70's mileage improved noticeably after changing the transmission fluid.

Re: Refreshing Volvo XC70 (P3) Front Suspension -Tips

Thanks. I re-read my posting and like to make couple clarifications: - steps 8 and 9 in my posting should be reversed. It is best to do step 9 first then step 8. I initially was eager to remove the strut out of the way only find limited room to release the strut, so it is best to remove control arm ...

Refreshing Volvo XC70 (P3) Front Suspension -Tips

I’ve been planning to change/refresh the front suspension of our 2011 XC70 (original owner) with 210K KM for some time and finally got chance to get it done this past Summer and I would like to share my experience with fellow Volvo P3 owners who inspired me to get it done. What got me wanting to ref...

Volvo MAP Connector 30658215

I recently removed my XC70 intake manifold to replace the thermostat, everything went well except I couldn't re-attach the MAP connector back to the MAP sensor 8699339 (Denso 6G9N-9F479-AA) thinking that I broke the connector lock. After going about the long way to replace the connector 30658215 whi...

Re: 3.2 Thermostat Housing (Warning)

I can confirm that this item is a must replace item for car with more than 10 years of age. I decided to replace the thermostat in my 2011 XC70 with 206K KM this Summer by first removing the intake manifold, etc. The old part was in good shape when I pulled it out so I decided to set it aside for ma...
