Re: 98 v70xc - serpentine belt (?) whine
@jreed - Thanks - this is helpful, though I can't tell from your description if your 850 was whining immediately on starting or only w/ foot on the gas. Not sure it matters but it seems like it might. Do you remember? Will look into it in any case. I have a '97 850, so this may not apply to your sit...

98 v70xc - serpentine belt (?) whine
Hello, I've developed what seems to be, from other threads here, a whine in the serpentine belt of my v70. I'm about to drive back cross country (Cape Cod, MA > CA) and am trying to (1) decide how urgently it needs to be dealt with and (2) how sure I can be, before taking it somewhere, exactly what'...

Re: 1998 v70xc - CEL, EFI-436, driving fine . . .
Belated updated: shop replaced the more accessible O2 sensor, and the CEL has not returned, 6k miles later.

Re: 1998 v70xc - CEL, EFI-436, driving fine . . .
So . . . Smoke test (per shop) shows no leaks anywhere – but there's a bypassed (capped off I think) line in the PCV system. Shop wants to replace the O2 sensors, and also to replace the missing/bypassed PCV hose (and go ahead and do a full PCV service). Is it remotely possible that the missing/bypa...

Re: 1997 850 T5, NOR CAL / Bay Area: parts, free, etc
Bumping this just in case anyone can do anything with it – car failed smog for stupid reasons (gas cap, blue smoke, bulb out in the CEL) and I need to move. Obviously would need to get those things fixed (and through smog) before selling, but it's yours (for whatever you offer) if you can do the wor...

Re: 1998 v70xc - CEL, EFI-436, driving fine . . .
Hi, thanks to both of you. I have been peering and poking at hoses and don't see anything super obvious - but can anyone link me to a good diagram / walk through which would show exactly which hose(s) you're referring to, between the MAF and intake manifold? would be much appreciated !

Thanks - will try smoke test first. Is it worth doing The Glove Test ? (Still trying to understand why they jumped to replacing the breather box )
