Re: Excessive Brake pedal travel before "bite"

I live in SE Pa but most brake shops should be capable of this. The shop I used was just a franchise Meineke. I have a Vida setup but am not very proficient with it ,so no help from me there. I think the idea is to have the ABS valves open while breading. There are many others on this site way bette...

Re: Excessive Brake pedal travel before "bite"

I am a fanatic about doing all the maintenance on my vehicles but when presented with the same problem, I finally took my wife's Winstar to a shop. They bled the brakes while commanding the ABS valves open. The result was a nice hard pedal. They told me that a fair amount of dirty fluid came out even...

Re: Good Idea, Bad Idea

It could be a money pit or a great buy. Of course all engines burn oil. If they didn't the piston walls would not get lubed. For example, with my 2002 V70 2.4T with 227K miles I add 1+ quarts between 5K oil changes with 0-40 syn. I consider that well within acceptable limits. It is a great DD. If yo...

Re: My very first European Car!

Sunroof could be as simple as replacing the battery in the alarm module (or replacing the entire module if the leaking battery has destroyed the circuit board). This is an issue well documented on this site. I don't have experience with AWD systems and its issues but there are many for that age/mile...

Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?

It was not easy at all. It would be impossible to do without removing the seat from the car. The seat is quite heavy and arkward and is difficult to maneuver out and especially back in (this coming from a 67 year old weakling). Because a replacement seat cushion is not available, I had to add a laye...

Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?

Oh, my aching back! Had enough of the saging/worn down driver's seat. Today, I removed the seat and bottom seat cover and added an inch or so of foam. It is much more supportive. I would like to have replaced the foam cushion altogether but the cushion is no longer available for a 2002 V70. Why didn...

Re: Does anybody want some floor mats?

I could use the driver's side front if you are willing to break up the set.
Thanks

Re: OBDII protocol for new volvos

Success! After guidance from UltraGauge I got the unit working. I now have an old iphone used as a gauge, iI set it up to show coolant temp, boost, voltage and instantaneous MPG. Apparently I messed things up. After the unit would not sync with the V60, I tried it on my sons car and confused the unit...

Re: OBDII protocol for new volvos

I had called my dealer (Keystone Volvo) with this question. I wasn't expecting much but I was pleasanlty surprised. The service manager informed me that Volvo has an onboard firewall that may be blocking communication. He emailed UltraGauge and then spoke to someone there and even contacted Sweeden ...
