Re: Compressor type
This is one that I will pay someone to do, and if I’m doing that, I’m just going to change the compressor while they’re doing it. I’m just happy I finally determined what I need and what that extra belt situation was. Thanks for all the help. I greatly appreciate it.

Re: Compressor type
I’m positive it’s a 3 groove pulley. On most of the new compressors I’m seeing, they are 5 groove. The salvage ones on eBay etc and rebuilt ones all look to be 3 groove. That control solenoid looks to be pointing up and towards back at a 45 degree angle so I’m assuming the only way to get it out is ...

Re: Compressor type
Ok, finally found something. This is from an XC60 Hanes manual but I’m assuming it’s the same for an s60, or at least mine anyway. What’s in those pictures is the transfer pulley. Diagram in the top left of the attachment.

Re: Compressor type
Ok, a bit more. The pictures show what I thought was the pulley that drives the compressor. Apparently not. I can’t see anything, so I started feeling around. The pulley with the serpentine belt on the front and smaller belt on the back apparently drives the compressor pulley with that smaller belt....

Re: Compressor type
Every compressor I see on the internet that is for an S60 shows the clutch assembly with the grooves for the drive belt. It’s real cramped to be sure, but mine has the main drive belt and I swear there is a smaller belt between it and the compressor itself. I hate to sound dumb, but it just looks di...

Re: Compressor type
Mileage is 72k. I’m handy enough that doing some mechanical things doesn’t scare me, but there is so little room to work with on this that I’d likely have someone swap it out. I was curious about the solenoid in that if it was accessible enough to change without pulling the compressor. Apparently no...

Compressor type
Having some ac issues. I’ve read tons about the typical clutch gap thing. Mine doesn’t seem to be doing that. Last Summer it just seemed to suddenly start taking 5-10 minutes to blow cold air. It’s hard to see but from what I can see, the clutch appears to be engaged. When it does blow cold, it does...
