Ok I went back and took another look and vtl was exactly right, it was the crank sensor (I was confusing it with the cam sensor at the top of the engine). I've got it all put back together now. Thank you again!

Thanks for the reply guys! After looking into it, the camshaft position sensor is the part I was referring to that has the same type of plug already plugged in, so yep, it's exactly the same as that, but that one's good.

I'll have to look into the headlight wiper motor, I hadn't thought of that ...

As a followup for laughs on this one I got my shipment of hoses and radiator from iPd on Friday including this hose on the order, only it wasn't in the box. I really didn't feel like waiting another week for it and I don't have a volvo dealer near so I just put the old one back on and called it good.

Yeah in hindsight I wish I had just left the hose. I got it removed ok and the original was in pretty good shape still. I had read several posts recommending changing it with the rest and thought that was the best thing to do. Oh well, I got it done, and it should be easier getting the replacements ...

Ok well after posting this I went to take another look and was able to see it just behind another line. I was able to pull both out enough from the block to be able to cut the clamp and get this one removed.
