Re: New iCarsoft Code Reader

Has anyone pulled the trigger on this? Just got a phantom CEL last week that my generic reader wouldn't touch. I guess with 2 V70's it's time to get the real deal. I'd like something that's plug and play, rather than having to deal with software issues. If this can do 90% of what the fancy softwares...

Re: Misfire at idle, occasionally low speeds. Lots of details

Try see if there is a bad coil anyway www.youtube.com/watch?v=fnYUQh23p7Q Also look at the wires to the coils, then at the wires to the injectors. You may even want to remove the injectors and test them with a small 9v battery pushing distilled water - look at the shape of the spray (check Youtube)...

Re: Misfire at idle, occasionally low speeds. Lots of details

Finally found some time yesterday. Pulled the plugs and did compression test. #4 plug came out with the insulator in many pieces. Hmm. The plug was tight so I'm not totally sure it didn't shatter when the plug popped loose; but I don't think that was the case. Compression was 135-155 across all cyli...

Re: Misfire at idle, occasionally low speeds. Lots of details

If you go the link in my sig for the maintenance thread, then look for Catherine, my 2005 Volvo, I believe the exact pressure spec is on page 2 of that thread 43 psi is way too low. Excellent, thank you! Congratulations on BOTH new babies! I would try swapping in the fuel pressure sensor from the o...

Re: Misfire at idle, occasionally low speeds. Lots of details

That 43.5 psi fuel pressure is a no go. If you believe your gauge? Spec is 52 psi and it needs to be there. Get that fixed first. On P2s, that is usually a known corrosion problem in the Pump Electronic module or PEM Thanks for the response, but I haven't found anything to support 52psi at idle. I ...

Re: Misfire at idle, occasionally low speeds. Lots of details

Thank you all for the input. Shortly after posting this, my wife gave birth to our first child, so I've been a bit distracted and haven't had a chance to do any more work on the Volvo. :o I finally managed to get a log file from torque, but I don't see a smoking gun. Idle is pretty rock steady at 70...

Misfire at idle, occasionally low speeds. Lots of details

I purchased an '06 V70 on Halloween of last year for a grand (yay). 132k miles but with a pretty clean interior and exterior. It needed the normal V70/2.5T work: complete front suspension rebuild, plugs (NGK BKR6EIX), trans flush (drain and fill), brakes, timing belt/water pump, and motor mounts. Th...

Re: What Car Jump Starter Would You Recommend?

Pick up a reputable brand lithium ion jumper pack. They're lighter, just as powerful, and easier to use. Yes; they really work.

Just make sure its a name brand. You might get lucky with some Chinese junk, or it might literally be a bomb.

Re: 2006 V70 Headlamp Glass.

A kit isn't even necessarily needed. You'll have a lot of success using 1500 and then 2000 grit sandpaper with some quick detailer as lubrication. I've brought a few sets of headlights back from the dead using this method. If you really want to go crazy and you have a random orbital, use that to fin...
