Re: S70 Tracs/ABS problem
• Wheel Sensor Fault: This fault emerged a few years after I had successfully repaired the ABS module on my 1998 S70. So I replaced one of the front wheel sensors with a new one and also spliced in fresh wiring where flexing may cause more stress. Despite this the same fault code persisted. • ABS Mo...

Re: No power to ECC
Yes, I pulled my ECC apart too! But no solder joints look suspect. (The dry joints in the ABS control unit were more obvious. I fixed it). I looked at where the power enters the unit and saw nothing obviously loose or visibly overheated. So if you find the faulty location (in ECC) let me know becaus...

Re: No power to ECC
FIXED! :D I replaced with good, used ECC (Electronic Climate Control) unit from eBay (few weeks to arrive from Latvia). The Part number must be correct - I tested Volvo Nos: 9171594 and 9134783 (Both work perfectly for S70, RHD,1998) That explains why Scan tool could not read ECC fault codes (or ev...

Re: No power to ECC
Thanks abscate :-) After testing the socket, I found there IS power (12V) at the ECC after all! (Yes, it’s pin C5 on my S70 too.) So, the Fuse No. 35 and relay that feeds it must be providing power okay. But it’s very confusing since "nobody is home" at the ECC. I dismantled the ECC and it...

Re: No power to ECC
I too now have EXACTLY the same problem on my S70 1998. Did anyone ever have any luck? Interestingly, my ECC suddenly has absolutely no power after I washed the engine with a water hose (the day before) while the engine was running and heater fan operating. I wonder if water-entry (e.g. at the Air C...

Re: 850 Sway bar bushing replacement
Re: "may load up the sub-frame mounts" That is a very good point to consider! However, the original (Volvo 850 & S70) sway bar bushes are vulcanized, thus preventing almost all lateral movement force (allowing only minimal cusioning-effect of bushes). I assume that the design of the su...

Re: 850 Sway bar bushing replacement
I have also discovered that Sway bar lateral locks can be placed (without removing sway bar) right next to the sway bar’s bushing mount. They prevent excess lateral shifting or sideways movement of the sway bar under lateral (cornering loads). This results in improved sway bar effectiveness (improve...

Thanks Neil,
So, when this webpage: (https://jendcarparts.com/reparatieset-p ... 73983.html) truthfully says that "PU .. . lifespan is much longer than that of rubber", it is not actually telling the whole truth.

Re: 850 Sway bar bushing replacement
The bushings are made of rubber (or synthetic rubber) vulcanized onto the bar at the factory. If there is any play on these bushings, the entire bar had to be replaced. However, polyurethane (PU) bushes can be used to replace the vulcanised rubber bushings. Advantages of PU is that 1) the lifespan i...
