Hi All I am experiencing the Hard pedal problem on my XC90 2007. It looks like it could be several issues. The dealer wants to replace the Master Cylinder Brake Booster for $1,200.

He also mentioned that the Vacuum pump leaks oil could this be the problem ?

Thanks, I am able to start the car and have it running. So the Ignition switch is working. I will try and remove the shifter cover to see if the shift interlock is engaging

Thanks for the update. I also bought an aftermarket Brake light Switch at advanced auto parts so I'm also wondering if that could be the issue. I will will look at removing the shift cover and see if there is anything preventing it from being released.
