Re: 940 AW70/71 Transmission overhaul.
jimmy57 I have two transmissions here I can try to replace. I just tested them by hand and they seem to work except for reverse I cannot check. That is a 10% test I know, but at least I know that park works and that the shifter works. The warrantee'd one that Reman Co, sold me was a dud and dint wor...

Re: 940 AW70/71 Transmission overhaul.
I poked around youtube.
If this is what it takes with a 71L in similar fashion , I am in deep water.

Re: 940 AW70/71 Transmission overhaul.
That is good news thanks. Do you know of any videos for sale that has detail AW70/71/72 rebuild instructions or paper documentation. Really difficult to find any documentation. I just bought a warranted transmission from a large transmission seller and they screwed me over. The shop that installed i...

940 AW70/71 Transmission overhaul.
Anyone here did a transmission overhaul themselves on AW70/71 ?
I want to know what it entails as I learned it has a ball-bearing valve system, and that is always a nightmare.
You have to know how to disassemble it so the balls dont fall out.

Re: 940 Engine Oil.
Thank you for that very detailed explanation. summers do get in the 90s but it is short lived. Winters get darn cold. So 0W40 seems to be right according to you. If you have anything better you feel will help protect the engine let me know, but it is good to know that 0W40 that served me so well wit...

940 Engine Oil.
Lots of oil threads but nothing addresses modernizing the original oil specifications that is quite out of date. I have the service manual, but the oils and fluids specified is real old and outdated. I know of course to find a similar oil, but my question is about full synthetics. Regarding engine O...

Removing 940 / 1993 non-turbo Transmission
Before I remove the transmission to remove the torque converter, 1) anyone know of videos how to remove the 940 transmission. I never removed a volvo transmission, but I removed other transmissions. I want to avoid dumb mistakes. Youtube has none for the 940. 2) Otherwise failing the above, any advi...

Re: Transmission Sump Drain bolt Thread for 1993 940
jimmy57, right on the money thanks. It turned out to be exactly an M10 x 1.25 Went to Autozone and Advance Auto, They have any sump bolt available except .. you guessed it .. M10 x 1.25 So I ent to home depot, go two M10x1.25 bolts. The bolt had casted spines on the inside surface which would not wo...
