Ya, alot of the Google search forums try to blame bad parts and stuff. Found a split in the new timing belt while I was changing out the spark plugs. I have a new one on the way, time to do it all over again lol. At least I won't be doing to water pump, tensioner and idler again.

I know this is an old post but I really wanted to address this after this very same thing happened to me after installing the timing belt on a Volvo V50. The walking issue is caused by the crank pulley not being seated all the way on the shaft. Take the harmonic balancer off, throw a size 30 socket ...
