Pulling a passenger front axle, 2004 S60
Tomorrow morning I need to pull the front passenger axle on my step-son’s 2004 S60, to re-boot the inner joint. I’ve searched endlessly and other than 1/2 hour you tube videos in Croatian, not found a clean how-to. I’ve done this job MANY times on other vehicles, just wondering if anything is odd he...

Re: Need 96 850 base rear wheel hub: Meyle?
I read somewhere that GMB uses Timken roller bearings, though that's not indicated on the printed box. If so and the race is carefully machined the hub should last a good long while. The seals look robust. There was another closeout for US 22.00, so I also got that one for a spare. It shipped in a ...

Re: Need 96 850 base rear wheel hub: Meyle?
SKF only for the bearings if you don't want to have to do them again in 2 years. Though for 32 bucks, probably worth a shot if you're on a budget. GMB is one of the premier OE suppliers of CVs, bearing assemblies, etc. It’s oe quality or better (depending upon who OE is). I need to replace a Lexus ...

Re: Need 96 850 base rear wheel hub: Meyle?
Thanks for that pointer. Rock Auto, yeah, I've bought parts there awhile ago and been satisfied. So happened they had a GMB hub on closeout for $32.00 so after checking a few reviews and recalling that I've purchased that brand before that's the one I bought. GMB is one of the premier OE suppliers ...

Re: 1998-2000 V70 Tailgate Latch Autopsy - Part number 8628197
What an absolute nightmare! All this for an idiot light that is more annoying than helpful. Unless there is a way to totally disable this circuit (fuse? which one? wire snip? which one?, etc?) it looks like a bit of black tape at the left end of the cluster will be the way to go, and then check eac...

Re: Right side outer CV joint issue
Maybe this helps a bit: A) if the inner is not shredded, and you don’t want to deal immediately, you can run a while with saran wrap and zip ties to keep it from flinging grease. Sounds ghetto, but honestly it works. B) If the inner is NOT trilobal on the can (the can is smooth all the way around, n...

Re: Any differences to be expected between Belgium and Sweden assembled cars?
Same as above. I/we have one Belgian built 2004 S60 and it is fundamentally no different than the three Gothenburg wagons I have had/have.

Anyone recognize this P80 style auto shift know (silver insert)?
I can’t recall where I got this, or what it was for. I swapped the one in my V70XC for wood effect, I recall. But I don’t think this was the original style for that car, with this silver insert (plus I recall it was worn somewhat). Thanks.

Re: Long term results for 2001 V70 auto transmission drain and fill
… And can you maybe shed light on why a big drain and fill transforms shifts but only for a few miles. It isn't just adaptations I think. Last year after a huge drain and fill, for a brief moment I had the fastest, smoothest shifts that last just a few miles, after which they go back to how they we...

Re: Long term results for 2001 V70 auto transmission drain and fill
interesting observations about the viscosity differences between fluids. i used maxlife in my 850 transmission once and noticed some hesitation afterwards - maybe the lower viscosity was the culprit? switched back to oem fluid and it seemed happier. I’ve put MaxLife in an Aisin U151E transmission (...
