high lambda value and secondary air system
When recently testing our Volvo V70 1997 B5254S, it was diagnosed with too high a lambda value in the exhausts; 1.07, accepted level 1.04. Now, the story is long and complicated; in a first test, the lambda value was even higher, but exchanging the exhaust system rear part (big crack) brought it dow...

Re: V70 -98 starts and then dies and 850 -96 stops when warm
The problem of the car dying when warm sounds like the problem I had on my V70. It was the air mass sensor. I think you can test that by disengaging the connector and trying to start the car when cold. If it does the same thing as when the sensor is connected, it indicates that the sensor is faulty....

Re: 1997 V70 EU immobilizer test, no start
Final (?) post on this subject. I bought a used MAF (from a SAAB) and now the car runs. If I encounter any further problems on longer runs, I will post about that on this thread. Also, its time for the annual inspection, and it will be interesting to see whether CO2 levels etc are OK. Apparently, th...

Re: 1997 V70 EU immobilizer test, no start
So, I got my error code reader (an iCarsoft i906) and read the codes. Apart from misfiring on all cylinders, which I already knew, it gave me this; P0172 system too rich Bank 1, P0103 Mass or volume air flow A circuit high. Apparently, this indicates some kind of fault with one of the sensors for ai...

Re: immobilizer test;now fuel problem
OK, I'll continue this thread then. I have now removed the fuel rail and put a small cup under each injector, and run the engine for like 15s. The amount of fuel in each cup looked to be similar. I had an idea one or two of the injectors were faulty and sprayed too much gas, but this does not seem t...

Re: immobilizer test
Thanks for all the advice everyone, I have learned a lot about the immo system now. However, something funny happened. I talked to my local mechanic, and he thought it unlikely that the immo was the issue (as did some of you in this forum) and thought it might be a fuel problem. I then started think...

Re: immobilizer test
OK, good advice, thanks. The other car with which I am testing is a-99 V70, same engine, but automatic, so should be OK then. I did notice that the antennas had different numbers on them. I'll check the resistence. We have two chipped keys to the faulty car, and none of them works, so probably not t...

1997 V70 EU immobilizer test, no start
Hi I have a start problem with my 1997 V70 (engine B5254S, 125 kW). It starts up, then dies down after a second, quite suddenly. If I take out the fuel relay, it runs for like five seconds, then fizzles out. If I bypass the relay and make the fuel pump run continuously, no effect. I have swapped the...
