S40 2011 Hissing sound when depressing clutch

A friend with a 2011 S40 has a strange problem - there is a hissing sound (like the sound when the gas escapes a soda bottle being opened) when depressing the clutch pedal - and mostly when the car is cold (i.e. first thing in the morning for the first few miles). Reservoir is full and it is NOT the...

Re: 2015 XC60 Brake System Failure + errors + Liftgate malfunctioning

I had a whole bunch of seemingly serious warnings and issues ... similar to some of the symptoms experienced by OP. These all disappeared when I replaced the battery. It seems that the Volvo electrical system is very sensitive to stable voltage around 12.8V+

Re: Need help or advice on '11 xc60 rear end fix or replace..

The first generation XC60 was designed and built during the time of Ford ownership, and the XC60 and Freelander 2 share some components - including the rear differential. Looking at Land Rover / Freelander forums, it is evident that the differential problem is very common on Freelanders, and hence o...

Intermittent one-touch window and door mirror problem

My 2010 T6 developed 2 different but I believe related electrical problems over the past week: The one-touch function on the front windows now only works intermittently. The rear windows are not affected, and if this issue occurs, it affects the window switches in both driver and passenger door - wh...

Re: 2003 XC70 Where's my oil going?

So do the glove test at 2000 rpm and tell us what you see. The system is two part...idle and at boost/rpms. one or both can fail. As I stated, before I could do the glove test at higher engine speed (2000+ rpm) the camshaft seals blew and (after fixing the camshaft seals) I then replaced the comple...

Re: 2003 XC70 Where's my oil going?

This post prompted the following ... I had a similar mysterious oil loss on my 2002 XC70 (135.000 miles at the time) but PCV pressure at idle was negative - it "sucked" the glove. I hadn't tested the pressure at higher engine speeds, but blew the camshaft seals ... so I assumed the PCV was...

Re: Suddenly started missing, NO power. Fuel pump?

Did a CEL light come on?

I had something similar, also quite suddenly, and it transpired that it was a failed coil on #5 cylinder. I replaced the one coil but plan to do a complete set replacement (ipd HD coils) soon as there are still occasional misfires.

Re: 2002 V70 XC- transmission drain/fill

On the 2002 XC you have to use the UPPER radiator / transmission cooler connection. The flow is bottom to top!

please - Advice on Multiple diagnostic codes

My 2007 S60 2.5T recently gave a "Power System Service Urgent" message (combined with a red engine warning triangle as well as the battery light) but this disappeared the next time the engine was started. A day later it gave the "Engine System Service Required" message (with the ...

Re: Do it yourself ABS module repair.

Calvin Thanks for your reply ... it gives me some "lateral thinking" ideas. To answer the question ... the ABS is definitely not working - I had tested it on a number of occasions and the wheels definitely lock solid when I apply the brakes on a loose surface, in the wet or just very hard ...
