We found out what the scraping/tapping was. The water pump was coming apart. It came apart on my wife today as she was driving. It has Amsoil 5w30 in it. It’s been about 7,000 miles since the last oil change and I’ve always changed at the book recommended 7,500 miles. This car sees about 70% highway mileage. It uses 0 oil between changes.
