Re: Splash Guard - 2004 S60

If the broken plastic part is towards the rear of the splash guard, this happens bc ppl undo these bolts last (during oil change). If you remove the front 5 bolts first, the front splash guard hangs down and can break one of both rear parts bc the weight of the splash guard is towards the front ...

Re: Hard to find Gaskets

If there is a gasket available or a flat surface, I usually put it on a flat bed scanner and put Millimeter paper behind it. Then it's easy to scale and recreate in CAD and you can cut it out with a laser cutter or at least have an easy template to work with:
Many hackerspaces or makerspaces have ...

Re: Hard to find Gaskets

I have cut quite a few gaskets. For holes buy a hole punch kit from Harbor Freight. Use hardwood backing when punching the holes. A box cutter with sharp blade can do the larger profiles. Work slow and careful.
If you have a case iron mating surface with a sharp edge, you can sometimes cut the ...

Hard to find Gaskets

a bit misleading. but as these cars get older and parts are harder to find and i needed a vvt solenoid gasket (yes, i know theyre still currently available) i was curious if one could easily cut complex shapes out themselves from gasket sheet at home using a cricut (or silhouette or whatever brand ...

Re: 99 v70 front subframe bushing replacement

Not intending to use hardware again. Have ordered 985111 with the bushings. To confirm, flange nuts 987891 fit the rack mounting bolts, shows that in the diagram, but that would seem larger than the sway bar end link bolts..? Am I issuing something? So I would need 5 of the 10a’s to mount the rack ...

Re: Subframe Bushings - Think i created a major ooopsie

However I am not sure about my subframe alignment after all. I followed the instructions from Vida for Torque, used new bolts and also new plastic washers. I am pretty sure that the subframe is slightly off the old witness marks at the body. Not sure if this is an issue at all, as I also got a new ...

Thanks, Irock. And thanks for the write-up!

however, i will add that CMUs are rated at 2000 psi compression force. minimum, standard, internationally regulated. the weight of these cars is in the 3600lbs or so curb weight If memory serves for the AWD variety. So as long as one is not
