Re: Diagnosing "Start Prevented, Try Again"

It was the key. Somehow the dead battery caused issues with the chip in the key. I ordered new blank ID48 chips from UHS-hardware.com for $3.50 each (I grabbed 4 because they were so cheap) then doublebug aka TotalAutoTech aka datatransfering.com aka a2zautolocksmith.com connected to my car remotely ...

Re: Diagnosing "Start Prevented, Try Again"

I took delivery of the car yesterday, it had been sitting in a pasture for a couple of months and the battery was almost completely drained. I pulled the battery and set it to recondition on my charger. After the recondition the multimeter reported 12.4 volts. I reinstalled the battery and tried to ...

Re: Diagnosing "Start Prevented, Try Again"

I finally found a thread on Reddit about this issue where the owner actually reported back after finding the solution. His battery had died so he jumped it and then the "Start Prevented, Try Again" popped up. He replaced the battery and the RF antenna ring and still no luck. The final solution for ...

Re: Diagnosing "Start Prevented, Try Again"

right now the value is scrap parts.

I'm picking it up for a scrap/parts car price, but hopeful to get it running again. It'll be my winter project to keep me busy in the garage through the cold months. If all else fails I'll part it out and be sure to let you folks know.

Re: Diagnosing "Start Prevented, Try Again"

The car was driven with the existing key prior to the battery dying so I'm pretty optimistic on that front. I'll definitely look into the alarm situation. The battery was recharged and everything lights up when the key is turned but a battery test is towards the top of my list.

Diagnosing "Start Prevented, Try Again"

Hey, I'm new here. I'm picking up a 2002 V70XC in a couple of days that is suffering from a "Start Prevented, Try Again" issue so it's currently not starting, not even intermittently. (I'm getting a pretty sweet deal on it) I'm hoping to get a checklist of items for diagnosing this issue for myself ...
