Picking a 2004 C70 Conv, what parts to get?

Hello all,

I'm going to get jewel headlights/corners and the egg crate grill to use on my 1998 S70, are there any other choice pieces I should be looking for?

Re: I let the smoke out of my cooling fan motor...

I agree Dorman stinks, there just don't seem to be many options out there. That being said, the Dorman on on Amazon shows a 12 month warranty, but the NAPA one is lifetime. They use the same pictures so I'm assuming they are the same part. but at least you can take it back to NAPA for an exchange......

Trying to find something local for a quick fix... I see a few options for new aftermarket ones: Autozone has a VDO one for about $153 (VDO is OEM, right?) Napa has their own brand, (but the pics are the same as the Dorman one) for $162 Amazon has a Dorman one for $127 (2 day delivery though...) Oddl...

"surging" HVAC fan and random heat...

Hey guys,

My HVAC has started behaving badly... After running fine for a while the fan will slow down, then go up 100%, possibly blow some hot air, and then drop back down to normal, all in a span of about 5 seconds. Any thoughts on what could be causing this?

Hello all, After replacing the PCV system on my 1998 S70 GLT I noticed that the smoking issue after long idle is MUCH less pronounced than before. I actually doubt that alone is the mpg issue but it makes the point - check all the rubber and there's a lot of it. Eliminate all small vacuum leaks. So the check engine light came on last night and it's a P0455 code. The only obvious one I saw was the rubber coupler that's above the radiator that goes to the black/white check valve. It's cracked and not sealing the two rigid lines very well.

Re: Delayed start when cold.

Fuuuuuudge... I FINALLY got everything back together after a marathon part replacement (+ battery cable/spark plugs/wires/dist cap/all motor mounts/PS pump/PCV) and I still have the same delayed start issue. Fudge... I replaced the + battery cable with the FCP one, but did not do the starter because...

Looks like the Injector kit from Autozone is $4 per injector and includes the 3 o-rings (Viton) and Pinter cap. https://www.autozone.com/fuel-delivery/fuel-injector-o-ring/gp-sorensen-fuel-injector-o-ring/553871_441144_11241 Just the o-rings, in a kit, is only $5 for 12 of them. When to replace injector o-rings

Hello all, I am in the middle of multiple maintenance items to bring my 1998 S70 GLT with 285K miles up to reliable daily driver status... One item was the PCV system where I removed the injectors from the intake. The O-Rings are still there, but are over 20 years old now, should they be replaced, o...

Re: The definitive P80 Power Steering Pump Pulley Tool: Lisle 39000

Don't know what it was about this puller that inspired confidence. But after a little back and forth (and installing this thing wrong a few times) I was able to pull the pulley off. This was off a 95 850 so the pulley was wedged on there for over twenty years!! It was $50 though... I will have to r...

OK, so absolutely no doubt about it, the Lisle 39000 is the way to go!!! Took about 5 minutes to figure out how the tool worked, but once I did, I have the old pulley off in about 30 seconds using my cordless impact wrench. Putting it back on required about 2-3 minutes of hand tightening. AWESOME to...

The Bosch parts guide said my 1998 S70 GLT should use alternator AL0805X, but it's not at all the same unit. The 2.4L engine reference says to use AL0805X The 2.3L says to use AL0752X My GLT is a 2.4L Turbo, and it's definitely NOT the AL0805X as the mounting points are completely different. The AL0...

P80 Power Steering pump pulley assistance 1397645 -1998 P80

Hello all, While slowly bringing my 1998 S70 back to life I have determined that I have a leaking PS pump. Reservoir is getting low, and dirty oil all around/over the alternator area, etc. There is no howling noise or anything, but I figured it was just easier to replace the unit. I have acquired a ...

Hello all, I'm replacing all the motor mounts on my S70 and when I got to the lower torque rod (the dog bone looking one), I realized that the bushing on the new mount was crazy loose. There is a lower port in particular (the lowest towards the bottom of the engine), needs a hose that fits tight in there (may wrap the end of it with some duck tape), then blow at the other end and listed for oil bubbling inside the oil pan. So I pulled the PTC and it was clear. There was a little bit of buildup, but I could see straight through. I still spent some time scraping and spraying cleaner on it. That Bosch remanufactured unit is not as good a starter as OEM - rebuild were outsourced overseaas and QC is not good.
I have to check, but I think the rebuilt unit was listed as being rebuilt in Germany. I'll verify tonight.

Quick test, after about 5-10 minutes of idling...

Starting voltage on the battery was 12.3v (It had charged a bit from earlier this evening due to idling)

13.86V at the Starter + post while running
13.62V at the + post on the battery

basically a .25v drop between the battery and starter.
