Re: blown spark plug and piece of spark plug in engine?
Thanks HTH. Since I've already started the car many times as is, I may just crank it a few more times until the piston has mostly bottomed out. If the electrode is stuck to the face of the piston, it seems like having the piston at the top would actually be better, but the idea of lowering the pisto...

Re: blown spark plug and piece of spark plug in engine?
Thanks for the replies. Can you describe how I would drop the piston down to the bottom of the bore? My plan is: - Drop piston, look for electrode, and if found, remove with telescoping magnet that I have. - Install new spark plug, but first run M14 tap/chaser through threads. If the threads are in ...

blown spark plug and piece of spark plug in engine?
Hi folks, I've got a 2000 S70 non-turbo, about 80k miles, that's got the following issue. While driving yesterday I heard a mechanical thud/ping from the engine area, lost some power, and pulled over. Upon inspection, it looks like a spark plug that I replaced about year ago slowly unscrewed itself ...

Re: S70, 2000, shaking uphill and rough idle
Thanks for all of the suggestions. It turns out that I just had a bad coil. Many thanks to Swedish Import Repair of Oklahoma City , which managed to fit me into their busy schedule and get me back on the road within an hour of showing up! To answer your questions, last year I had changed my spark pl...

S70, 2000, shaking uphill and rough idle
This all started happening on a cross-country drive yesterday night, so any help is appreciated. I had been driving on the interstate for about 10 hours when my car started to have trouble going up slight inclines. At around 1800 RPM, it starts to "slip" or "shake". It's like the...

FCP Groton Return Policy?
Does anybody know what the FCP Groton return policy would be for a part that I haven't even opened? I tried calling FCP, but they're closed for the holidays.
I'm not looking for an "official guarantee", just a guess of what they'll do, based on your own experience.
Thanks,
Ryan

Well, I was able to pop off the hose that would contain the flame-trap, and there wasn't any flame-trap inside. It was just a hole that I could see through clearly. There was oil on the inside walls, which I cleaned, but it was definitely not blocked. See http://spt.uchicago.edu/blog/rkeisler/volvo/...

Ok, here's where I am now: - I took off the throttle body and cleaned it pretty thoroughly. I was never able to get that plastic boot off, but just cleaned it while connected. Anyway, this cleaning of the throttle body did not make the shaking go away. - About cleaning the flame trap, I guess Volvo ...

Hi bigfinn, Sounds like we were having pretty similar problems, and I'm encouraged you were able to fix it. I'm in the process of removing/cleaning my throttle body and flame trap. Two questions: 1) When removing the throttle body, how the heck is the hard plastic 90-degree boot at the bottom suppos...

Hi guys. Thanks for all the suggestions. Here's' where I stand now: - The 10 second cycle was indeed just the AC compressor turning on and off. The clicking goes away when I turn the AC off. This was just a red herring and I'll add freon sometime. - I did a rough check for vacuum leaks by spraying s...
