Re: Add an iPod input to many Volvo radios for $0

Yes, I know this is an old post, but it still come up when searching for the HU-611 input. Just wanted to let everyone know that I did the procedure as listed here: https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=14122&hilit=ipod&start=14 and it works perfectly on my HU-611....

For what it's worth, I've seen a plugged radiator and /or bad heater core cause the same problems. I would make sure that that the water is flowing well before I tore into the head. Thermostat is the best place to start tho. Good luck!

Re: how do I get the PTC out of the intake hose

That big hose is the one that runs from the front of the motor all the way around to that valve. It's critical that this has an airtight connection to create a PCV Vacuum. Why they used a hard plastic hose for this.. I'll never know. I've done 4 of these and counting. My solution is to buy a piece o...

Re: bad knocking from the rear passenger side

There are places to get them cheaper, I believe, if you look around some. For what it's worth, as you jump into this project, you will likely learn that if you don't know how, these rascals can be a BEAR to replace. It was my first Volvo experience (prior to Matthew's enlightement 8) and I spent a w...

Re: 1994 850 Won't start when I turn the key

I had the same problem with my '94... it's that switch in the TRANS that senses when it's in park and allows it to crank over. My work around was to hold the key in the crank position (all the way on) w/ my left hand, and wiggle the shifter with my right. I usually just put it in neutral and wiggled...

That's what I thought too....maybe I've got a fluke, but it's nice to only need one remote for both cars! I guess if you had 10 cars, all the same year and model etc, that you could use the same fob for all of them! (Providing the factory fobs all had the same FCC ID #)

My R is just front wheel drive. A Chip was the only thing I could think of too. Can you tell by pulling the ECU and looking at it??

Would the '94 ECU work in the R and vice a versa?

thanks for the input...

True... but lots of people were questioning if the same remote could be used on multiple vehicles etc.

Key Fobs...mystery solved

I have seen the question on many different posts here... so many, that I just want to put this out front for all to see. If someone else came to this conclusion already... sorry. It was new to me. ANSWER #1) PRE '96 THE CAR LEARNS THE REMOTE'S SIGNAL ANSWER #2) AS LONG AS THE FCC # ON THE KEY...

Wheel Exchange...

Hi All, I have a '96 855R that has the stock ('94) 5 spoke wheels on it, that are chromed. All 4 have NEW matching tires. I would be interested in trading these to someone for the 17" stock wheels that belong on the R model with useable tires. I would like to trade straight up, but wouldn't be ...
