Re: I'M BACK!!! lol. need help, of course. (AWD removal) Topic is solved

I'm going to answer my own question. when I removed the angle gear last year I decided to put in a new axle and CV joint assembly. It was not expensive. The bearing on the new assembly has separated from the axle, allowing the shaft to slide in and out. In other words, I got a cheap-ass part that fa...

Re: Press for replacing upper torque mount

I simply bought a new one from rockauto. Much easier than going through all that pressing rigamarole. They aren't expensive.

I'M BACK!!! lol. need help, of course. (AWD removal) Topic is solved

Hi everyone, it's been a long time since I have been here. I bought a new car so haven't been driving the 2000 V70XC. But I am giving it away to a friend who needs a car and I need to get it running. I hope you can help. Last year I took out the AWD transfer case (whew!). What a job. It ran fine but...

Re: $400! Cheaper key replacement? 2011 XC60

$400 was a rough estimate over the phone jimmy57. I think it will be closer to $450, with $199 of that the actual fob and the rest programming charges.

Re: $400! Cheaper key replacement? 2011 XC60

Thanks anyway oragex, but as best I can figure out that software costs 500 EUR! lol. That is about $150 more than the replacement fob. Good try though. My GF is the GM for a Maserati dealership so maybe there is some discount she can get. They occasionally get used Volvos in trade and I'm sure some ...

$400! Cheaper key replacement? 2011 XC60

OMG, $400 for a key fob replacement from Volvo for a 2011 xc60! Anyone know of a cheaper alternative? I have one working key. It's a long story, but some jerk in another city who I don't even know stole my key.

Changing oil filter without draining the oil?

If I unscrew and change the oil filter without draining the oil, how much of a mess will it make? I find myself in this predicament because I changed the oil on my "new" XC60 but when I went to change the oil filter it took a 36mm socket which I did not have. I just left the filter in place and adde...

Transition from V70 to XC60. Yikes!

After years of trusty V70 use I bought another Volvo - a 2011 XC60. This is my first SUV and I expected some performance loss, but I am shocked at how poorly it handles. On my first drive through some back roads this car scared me twice . Corners I would normally breeze through in the V70 were too m...

Re: The final straw? Car won't move. V70xc

Correct oragex. My next theory is that when I replaced the inner axle seal I did not push it far enough into its housing in the differential. I left the outer edge flush with the housing (which is where the old seal was positioned). There is space behind it so it can go further in, so that may be ke...
