Re: 97 Volvo 850 turbo no crank
I had my wife turn the ignition switch to the start position and used a test light to determine that 12 volts was reaching the 's' terminal of the solenoid. i.e. the solenoid appears to be toast. Thanks for everyone's help. I looked in my log book and see that I installed a 'new' AC Delco starter ba...

Re: 97 Volvo 850 turbo no crank
The attached photo shows my starter. Is the bare terminal the 's' terminal? If so, I will run a wire from it to momentarily touch the + battery post to see if the solenoid will engage the Bendix and spin the gear to rotate the fly wheel. 97 Volvo 850 starter.jpg 97 Volvo 850 starter.jpg Sorry I don'...

Re: 97 Volvo 850 turbo no crank
Gentlemen thanks for the replies To Abscate: My would the solenoid not engage/shift the bendix rather just cause the starter motor to spin when I touch the solenoid and battery cable at the starter using a large screw driver? i.e. assuming the battery cable is in good condition? i.e. shouldn't the s...

97 Volvo 850 turbo no crank [ bad starter 10 years old Delco]
Car has about 230,000 km. It had been sitting on a battery tender for a couple years and started occasionally to keep things lubricated. Recently put it back on the road. Initially the alarm went off. Not sure what set it off but successfully reset the alarm by locking and unlocking the driver's doo...

Re: Tutorial: Volvo OEM Shim Install Fixes Squeaky Brakes
I found a link which showed the arrows down. My 96 950 right rear were squealing when backing down our sloping driveway. I had installed the shims previously with the arrows pointing in direction of forward wheel rotation i.e. arrows up. This link (https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/brake-shims-fix-8...

Re: 97 850 T5 Temperature gauge works intermittently
No but the car has been just parked as a spare for awhile so I don't know if it is still a problem
If you find a solution, I hope you will post and let everyone know.

Re: Leak in roof above drivers side
Is there a link to a procedure to lower the head liner so I can access the rear drain(s). Are there more than one? i.e. one on left and one on right?
I am parked from of car facing up hill and the water is ending up on the right rear passenger foot 'well'.

Re: 97 850 T5 Temperature gauge works intermittently
Well I unplugged the connector for the coolant temperature sensor and cleaned with contact cleaner plugged back together and then started the car. The gauge remained below the scale on the gauge. I only watched for a few minutes while idling in the drive way. Still think it is likely a different con...

Re: 97 850 T5 Temperature gauge works intermittently
Thanks for all the replies. I am thinking, maybe erroneously, that the connector for the coolant temperature sensor itself is fine. My reasoning is that the car runs fine even if the coolant temperature gauge reads below the scale. i.e. I am thinking that the sensor sends the correct resistance amou...
