Thank you for posting. I really appreicate any help at this point and the piece you are talking about would be the Fuel Pressure Regulator. From reading about it in the manual I have and what you have described I do think it very well may be my problem. I hope so and will let you know the result.

First check on a car of this age is the earth (ground) connections on the inlet manifold. They can cause all sorts of problems if they are dirty or loose. ? What exactly is the 'inlet manifold' and where would I find the ground for it, don't see this specified in manual that I have? Could it be cal...
