Re: Restore car paint

Wet sand to remove swirls is extremely unnecessary, wet sanding is a last ditch effort to remove orange peel or deep scratches. The whole point of paint correction is to use the least aggressive method possible. Jumping straight into the most aggressive is not good advice. Furthermore, removing wet...

Re: turbo boost problems and rough start Topic is solved

the torque limiter is so annoying in 1st gear also but im sure there is nothing you can do about that correct? It can be turned off (not recommended) or adjusted in the ECU, but it’s there for a reason. ;) It’s an involved process, though, so you’d either have to learn to flash and tune, or send it...

Re: turbo boost problems and rough start Topic is solved

Abscate, what do you mean by stage one? With most tuning, Stage 0 is basic factory condition. Ie everything works, no faults or errors. Getting there is the main priority for any car. Stage 1 is usually ECU tuning with none or minimal changes to hardware. Stock turbo, exhaust, intakes etc. some mod...

Re: Help me buy an 850!

Thx for infos guys! Roughly speaking, how much $$ for a stage 0? My gut tells me 500-700 It all depends - do you go stock or do you have plans to upgrade the basics right away? New, stock copper spark plugs, or Iridium TT's? Bosch cap and rotor, or would you want to take a chance on a cheaper, non-...

Re: Faulty VSS causing flashing arrow?

ESS/VSS should be 200-400 ohms. It doesn't seem to be within acceptable, but it could depend a little on temperature, etc. I'm not the best with electrical stuff, so I'm just referencing what the basic testing info says. :)

Re: overheating no vac no boost

I may be having a brain fart, but why are you getting no vacuum? Your brake booster should build some no matter what, with its check valve. If you were getting numbers that low "naturally", due to compression loss, I'd expect the engine not to run at all. Or am I being super confused...? You should ...

Re: Help me buy an 850!

Hey! :) First off, a slight ticking sound is normal. You’re most likely hearing the injectors, not valves or lifters. They’re pretty loud. Second, if you had power of any kind, no smoke or steam, then the turbo should be okay. Not saying it’s perfect, but you’d be hard pressed to have any kind of su...

Re: Restore car paint

Clear coat repair is tricky, time consuming and very easy to mess up... you could sand down the edges of clear coat with 2000-2500 grit, then try to clear coat that whole panel again, but If the edges aren’t perfect, you will have troubles. There might also be a noticeable height difference. For the...

Re: turbo boost problems and rough start Topic is solved

Yes, but it does take a lot of black smoke out the tailpipe before you fry a catalytic converter. Don't worry about that right now. You're lucky you have codes to work with - if you haven't done so already, clear your codes and see what comes back. That's how you filter out the "real" codes from the...

Re: turbo boost problems and rough start Topic is solved

Sorry, didn’t mean to be all lingo and alphabet soup - we are supposed to use proper language around here (I see you there, abscate ;) ). Running rich for longer periods, which is one of the things an air leak can lead to, is fouling the catalytic converter. It’s expensive and troublesome. As for IC...
