Re: 2002 V70 front strut assembly diagram..?
8) Steely, Thank you for the diagram..! The spring top that failed twice is the part No 6., I may have installed the X nut backwards (No.3) the last time.. but I am removing the struts so I will found out shortly. If the X nut is not backwards then perhaps the bearing (No.5) is damaged (hopefully i...

V70 '02 Help Please? X shaped nut on top of strut ?
I am sorry but I need to confirm if the position of the X shaped nut on top of the front strut should be facing up or down..? I had been searching unsuccessfully for the front strut "exploded view" to see the correct assembly sequence of parts. Any guidance will be greatly appreciated! Tha...

2002 V70 front strut assembly diagram..?
By any chance someone has the assembly diagram for the front strut on a 02 V70? I already replaced twice the "upper spring seat' (rubber part) the first time I used parts from IPD and two months ago I bought "Moog life time warranty" and today I noticed that one of the rubber spring s...

Re: '02 V70 blown head gasket.. help please..?
Hello Ariete57; I tried to locate a lift that I could use to replace the complete engine, wich by the way cost of a used engine is the same as the spares required to repare the blown head gasket (using new tensioner & idle pulley). Since I don't have a lift, the other option is to replace the he...

Re: '02 V70 blown head gasket.. help please..?
Thanks a lot for the pictures Cucuracha. I will try to find the Hynes manual to see if I can make at least the tool that holds the cams in position, I assume that another tool is to keep the crankshaft from rotating. Are the two 'butterfly nut' tools that bolt on the cylinders 1 & 5 are for remo...

Re: '02 V70 blown head gasket.. help please..?
Ariete57; Do you know if the special tool you bought for the '95 850 turbo is the same one used on the '02 V70? Could be possible to post a picture of this tool? I believe that the V70 has an independent variable timing gizmo on both cams. But if the tool is the same I will start looking for one, th...

Re: V70 '02 engine replacement tips..?
Well, I spoke too soon. On the older FWD's I would do it from above, but VADIS shows from below. I hope that this helps you: V70 Engine Replacement.pdf MadeInJapan; Thanks for the PDF, it clearly shows the reason on why you should be using a lift to replace the engine... By any chance do you have t...

Re: V70 '02 engine replacement tips..?
I think you're going to find that lifting it out is actually easier...you'll need an engine lift...btw, the engine and transmission do come out together and the hood will release to be at 90degrees, making this job easier. MadeInJapan; Thanks for the great news..! I do have an engine hoist. Is ther...

V70 '02 engine replacement tips..?
I need to replace the engine on our V70 and hopefully someone can shed some light, I believe that the engine has to be removed from the bottom but I have a few questions for someone that knows the procedure. * It's easier to remove the engine and transmission together? * Is the engine mounted into t...

'02 V70 blown head gasket.. help please..?
Background: The lower radiator hose came loose, the fluid drained quickly and unfortunately my wife did not see (..!) or ignored the message "low coolant, Shut Engine Off" needless to say, our V70 (non turbo) with 80K miles now has a blown head gasket... when the engine it's cold runs fin...
