My 1985 740 turbo overheats. I was told the fan clutch is not working properly. Could this be the problem? How difficult is it to change?

Stalling 740
I have a 1985 740 turbo that is stalling when the temperature goes above half way on the thermometer. A mechanic mentioned stall codes. Is there a way to stop this stalling.
