I'm so bummed they don't carry H8 batteries (where I live) or I would hands down go to Costco for batteries. It's only Interstate batteries locally, and no H8. The price I quoted is AutoZone's current sale price for a gallon jug of Valvoline Maxlife Dex/Merc LV synthetic transmission fluid. Don't the 2002s use 3309 trans fluid? You can USUALLY tell the sway bar links by grabbing them and yank/push/pull on it like a madman (grab it, then shake it like you're throttling your best friend after you found out he slept with your girlfriend). Make sure it's not just the dust shield that's rubbing on the rotor. It's common enough to squeak or grind and sounding like something is horribly wrong when it's just a quick reach-in-with-your-hands-and-bend-it-away-from-the-rotor fix.

For a dirt-cheap test, swap the fuel pressure sensor. On the fuel rail, front of engine. One screw holds it in. Bleed fuel pressure, remove screw, hold a towel around it and twist it while you pull it out, swap it with another one from the junk yard and see how your car is after that.

Re: 960 sedan 1995 changing motor oil...

On the B6304 you want to run full synthetic, and then there could be some debate as to what brand and viscosity. 10w-30 works well for me.

Re: Looking for coil pack wiring harness 95 volvo 960

You should be able to find the split-loom stuff at any parts store. It's cheap and plentiful. If you got an old/used replacement harness you might run into the same problem again in the future. It gets hot under there, and I've sometimes wondered if the harness should be re-soldered using the kevlar...

Re: worried about our 1997 960 wagon!!

You need a different mechanic. These cars will run forever with a modicum of maintenance. Ask here or on Swedish Bricks list, or any other forum and I am sure someone knows a good mechanic in your area.

Re: 95 Volvo 960 Turn Signal issues

They don't go bad all THAT often so snag one from the junkyard and cross your fingers. I think mine ran me $4 or something. Sold as a "relay" or "switch". Getvolvoparts.com has them brand new (OEM Volvo) for $68. It's enough that I'd want to MAKE SURE that it is the piece that I need to replace (tho...

Re: 960 '97 undertray

Yes, you want it. Without it you have no protection from splash/debris under the engine, but I seem to remember that your air-guide attaches to it, so without it you can't have the airguide. I believe FCPGroton has them, and I even think that you can get the VOlvo OEM one for next to nothing - check...

Re: S90 with a vacuum leak under the dash

I bet if you pinch the YELLOW hose, the hissing stops. It goes to the DUAL bellow that is right above the gas pedal on the side of the airbox. You have to remove the cover under the instrument panel to get to it (real easy). What you'll find is the yellow hose connects to the bellow and that's the s...

Re: 960 fuel pump replacement

From the pump, there is a hose going up to the 'lid' of the tank where you attach the pump assembly. That hose can split and 'leak' pressure out before it makes it to the main pump. I'd pull the pump and take a look. These pics might help a bit; http://photos.robdiesel.com/viewer.php?albid=66&stage=3

Re: A/C airflow vacuum motor failure??? '96 960

It's usually the floor/defrost vacuum servo ("bellow" I think is the proper name) that fails. If you remove the cover under the dash, you can see it right above the gas pedal. Most likely, it's the yellow vacuum connection that has failed, so you can unplug the yellow hose and cap it and you'll neve...

'96 965 ABS - longer wheel studs installation problem

I got my H&R spacer/stud kit, so I just poked behind my wheel to see what gives. I removed the caliper, pulled the rotor and then pulled the hub off. It looks like the ABS 'sprocket' is pressed onto the hub, what's called a "cartridge hub" or something like that, in Volvo nomenklature. I can press t...
