Re: 850 1997 Keeps getting stuck in low gear/winter mode
So through all this crap I ended up putting a used transmission from a roll over into the car. After a few weekends of fun I get it back together and now it has no reverse. Other than that its fine. I'm trying to sell the car for $1500 on craigslist. This sucks. After all this I've come to the concl...

Good to know, I'll see what else I can find out about the GLTmatthew1 wrote:^^^ Lee, I think he may be concerned about GLT's being turbo. If I recall correctly, 1996 and older GLTs were N/A. 1997 and newer GLT are light pressure turbo.

Re: 850 1997 Keeps getting stuck in low gear/winter mode
Would a manual conversion be ridiculous or cure my problems for life? It might. Is your car a turbo or an N/A? The turbo ECU is programmed for an automatic transmission and you will have a perpetual CEL with a stick. If you have an N/A you can get the ECU for a stick and not have that problem. ...L...

Re: 850 1997 Keeps getting stuck in low gear/winter mode
My neighbor took the car to his shop and said that the filter in the transmission is full of crap and that the transmission fluid looks like mud. He flushed the transmission and said that its working better now but still not right. He said he could see bits of silicone floating in the transmission f...

Re: 850 1997 Keeps getting stuck in low gear/winter mode
Ok so my neighbor who owns a garage brought home his Launch code reader and checked the PNP switch. He said that the switch is reading fine but that it only stays in the correct gear for a few seconds. He cleared the code and could shift into the right gear just fine but only for a minute or so afte...

Re: 850 (non-turbo) 1997
Stage Zero was my first priority but I was wondering if down the line gutting the turbo, ecu, ect out of a GLT would be feasible or just more trouble than its worth.
On a side note: I've found that this forum is the mecca for Volvo owners. My local Volvo dealership even suggested that I check it out.

Is there anything worth doing performance wise or should I save my money and look into a turbo model?
