When I did mine (94 850) it was pretty easy to press out, so much so that I regretted the effort to remove the mount to take it over to the press. Next time I would try pressing it out with the mount in place by using a gear puller set to "Push" the center part out while "pulling"...

I had the same problem and am pretty sure that it was a bad ground connection. There is a ground connector with about 8 terminals on it right in front of the battery. Clean it with emery cloth (sandpaper) and inspect each of the female connectors to be sure that they get a good connection. There is ...

I was sure that someone had dropped a socket into the door or bodywork, or that the car was coming apart.....that rrrrrr...clunk sound on braking, right turns, etc. Looked under the seat in the vent pipe and found the PO's golf ball there. Ahhhhh.....silence now........
