Inside the trunk you will find the black plastic covers for the tail lites. Screw these off and you'll see the circuits and the connectors.
This is where I have the problem on my 240DL.

Try checking the connections to the rear light circuit boards.
My 240DL is having similar problems and the right rear tail light has a bad connection which is causing other electrical problems.

Re: Engine mounts and replacement!
The flat steel bars came from leftovers from a broken garage door opener...sometimes it pays to keep junk lying around!
Note the threaded bar extends more on the right side of the bushing.
This was a helpful tool in keeping the bushing centered as it went in..

Re: Engine mounts and replacement!
Took some experimentation, but once it was setup, it was a breeze.

Re: Engine mounts and replacement!
I tried today to insert that upper mount bushing, and mine is too big also.
I tried vasalene, but made no difference.
Has anyone tried sanding or grinding the bushing?
I'll be back at it tomorrow.

850 Turbo Wagon....top motor mount issue
Hi all, I'm new to the forum. I have a 1990 240dl sedan...over 200k and going strong. I also have a 1996 850 Turbo Wagon which I think is a Platinum Edition . Car has 166k and is currently incapacitated  . I thought it was the (auto) transmission (which is overfilled!), since it would not shift...
