I had him repair/upgrade my ABS unit on my '96 850. He upgrades the original components to make them last longer from the normal wear and tear (heat and vibration) for a cheaper price too.

I've just installed a strut brace on my 96 850. I've seen on some forums where they mention you have to do a front-end alignment. I've seen on other forums where they didn't mention you have to do an alignment.

What's the real deal? Alignment or no alignment? Personally, I don't think it needs it ...

Ask him if he's got any relatives in Texas who does auto work too?

I recommend before you replace the whole alternator ($$$), like you said, look into trying to replace either the voltage regulator or the alternator brush assembly. May save you some $$$ there.

What year and model do you have and what's your mileage? The brush itself might be getting too short or ...
