Is this a good car?

Hi there, I'm looking at getting a car for my son to learn to drive with and he is very keen to learn with a manual gearbox! Anyway, my budget is not huge and I have found a 1987 240GL with the 5 speed box. It has done 350,000 Kms and has no accident history. Can anyone give me some advice on how lo...

2002 V70 Fuel smell

My V70 has a constant smell of fuel which was initially tracked down to all seals on the top of the fuel tank herniating out!. All was well for a week or two then it did it again. My specialist mechanic has been scratching his head as to why when he found some info on the web about a Volvo recall to...

Recommendation for 2002 V70 Front Struts

My 2002 V70 needs new front struts (has done 145,000km). Should I stay genuine or are there better but cheaper options available. As any V70 owner knows, the car is a bit of a barge and I would be interested in a strut that could both stop the wallowing and yet retain the V70's smooth riding qualiti...

Re: Repairing v70 Headlights

No pram, bubby prang involved daughter being somewhere other then where she was allowed to drive the car... The phone call that night started with 'Dad, it wasn't my fault" !! Technically it was, as she rear ended a car after someone stopped way too fast at a set of lights and started a series ...

Repairing v70 Headlights

Hi there. My daughter had a bubby prang in our 2002 V70 and the glass in the LHS headlight is broken. Can you just replace the glass or does the whole assembly have to be replaced. Also, can anyone please provide a link that demonstrates how to R&R the headlight? Many thanks

V70 tyre wear problem

Hi all. My 2002 V70 has a continuing problem in wearing out the inside edge of each front tyre. Typically I only get about 20,000 kms before a new set is required. It seems to be a latent defect of the V70 steering geometry, as other cars I've checked seem to have identical wear issues. Other than r...

1988 240 radiator problem

Hi there, when I'm driving the car's radiator seems to be working ok with the airconditioner on, however if I'm stationary in traffic the temp creeps up towards the red! Is this normal? The coolant is new and there are no obvious leaks from the water pump or radiator both of which are original. The ...
