Thanks Bill. That sounds like the correct diagnostics and Im very eager to implement it.

It may be something as simple as balancing the wheels. My '89 740 had a sort of bumping/jittering problem in the steering wheel, so I got my wheels balanced for free at the place I bought my tires and the bumping/jittering stopped.
