Re: The history of the Volvo 240

Ferrari = speed
Rolls Royce = luxury
Volvo = safety

Everybody knows these automotive truths. They're not nearly as clear-cut as they were in say the 1970s, when things were simpler.

Thanks. I'm still due to own one. I think it was the pinnacle of Volvo's safety advantage on the rest of the field. Even 10 years [after its introduction] the Volvo 240 was still rated as the safest car in its class by the Highway Loss Data Institute, having the lowest death rate of any vehicle on t...

If I had to guess, I'd say the 90s explosion of color was the result of the end of the Cold War. It was a pretty carefree time. Also, Earth Day, recycling, and a new generation of Gen Xers felt concerned about the environment, thus the greens.

We reached Peak Boring in 2011

95% of SUVs I see out there are monochrome. I love Volvo partly because they (still) sell red XC90s. Gen 1 and Gen 2. Consumers don't buy them often based on my observation, but they're available. Hooray for Volvo!

During this time you could read the forum fine -- it acted 100% normally. But posting a new topic or reply would cause a timeout. First, I...

The turbo is back in the car with a new CHRA... and the problems persist. Still have that annoying whine and the boost still acts weird. I'm down to a clogged cat on the boost issue... The ones I've heard from local Denver car enthusiasts using are all run off the car's 12v. Anywhere from a dedicated product to a hidden old Android phone. You can get super basic 4G service for cheap for these GPS applications.
